Project overview

Oakhouse Foods, a leading provider of home-delivered frozen meals, approached C3 with a mission to modernise its online presence and improve the overall shopping experience for its predominantly senior customer base. Having worked together since 2015, our partnership evolved to focus on re-platforming their website to Adobe Commerce (Magento 2), ensuring a robust, scalable, and user-friendly solution that aligned with the company’s values and long-term goals.

The primary objectives of the project included:

Execution

C3 led the full re-platforming process, working closely with Oakhouse Foods to ensure a smooth transition from their legacy system to Adobe Commerce (Magento 2). The project involved:

User-Centric Design & UX Optimisation

We conducted in-depth research on Oakhouse’s customer base to refine the site’s user experience, ensuring a seamless browsing and checkout process tailored to their audience. Features such as larger fonts, clear navigation, and a simplified checkout were implemented to enhance usability.

Performance & Scalability Enhancements

Leveraging Adobe Commerce's capabilities, we optimised performance by implementing caching strategies, database improvements, and an AWS-backed infrastructure to handle increased traffic efficiently.

Custom Features & Integrations

We developed bespoke functionalities, including an improved subscription ordering system, a postcode-based delivery slot selection, and an enhanced account management interface. Integration with Oakhouse’s existing ERP system ensured a seamless backend experience.

Migration & Launch Strategy

To minimise downtime and disruption, we executed a staged migration, transferring customer data, orders, and content while extensively testing the new platform before launch. A phased rollout allowed us to monitor performance and address any issues promptly.

Post-launch, we provided hands-on support, monitoring key performance indicators and fine-tuning the system to maximise results.
